Hamish and I both have a deep rooted love for nature, which is central to everything we do. Having been the founding directors of Secret Herb Garden, a herb nursery, cafe, shop and distillery on the outskirts of Edinburgh, we found ourselves yearning for a wilder future, which lead us to make a life changing move in July 2022 to a little white cottage carved into the Highland Perthshire hills.

 

Our vision, is to enhance biodiversity, increase regeneration and help the conservation of our sacred SSSI woodland (Sites of Special Scientific Interest) and surrounding land, whilst living as self sufficiently and sustainably as possible, leaving a minimal footprint. 

 

Our home, isn’t just home to us and our family, the land is home to an amazing array of beautiful beings – from rare fritillary butterflies, dragonfly’s and damselfly’s to red squirrels, pine martins and ravens. 

 

Our future, is to safeguard and protect the land that we have been given guardianship over, whilst creating a sustainable living. We offer a series of Tree for the Future gifting options, as well as the opportunity for a personilised message with Rue and Hamish.  A variety of seasonal Learn with Us courses, and the opportunity to attend our bespoke residential course, tailored for you, staying in our Shepherds Hut.
